The Walton Project

In a moment of vision, somewhere between insight and insanity, we purchased an aging 65' wooden Louisiana shrimp boat, with the intent of rebuilding it and living aboard.  For the first two years of the project, the general consensus of family and friends leaned heavily towards insanity.  In the third year, as the project neared completion, our insanity edged towards insight and finally stayed there.  Below is a photographic chronicle of the Walton project.  Judge for yourself.....

First encounter in a bayou south of New Orleans:

In a bayou boatyard, with gear stripped off:

waltonpre3     waltonpre4

Upon arrival at our home port of Worton, Maryland
,
after a harrowing December trip up the ICW:                                          Early on, with cabin and decks torn off:

waltonworton                       waltonworst

With new cabin and decks, but still a long way to go:

waltonnj1     waltonnj2

The finished product (they finally stopped laughing at us):

waltonfinal
